Wow, what a week. No, not this week, last. I say wow because I was in Florida, that's right, living it up in the sun and surf and sand that gets everywhere because I was on the beach, practically living among the waves and shells and sharks and god knows whatnot that thrives on the sandy reaches of the West Palm Beach area of the Atlantic.

Last week was fun, this week sucks. It's not just that I'm trying to make up the hours I missed on Monday by working my ass off the rest of the week to get in 40 hours by Friday afternoon, or that I have to walk the length of the entire freaking building (about 1/4 of a mile) every time I want to get in touch with this guy I have to ask questions of because he never answers the phone. I just miss the warm weather and the beach and spending all day doing nothing but what I wanted (mostly, sleeping in late, reading good books, and drinking heavily – coffee in the morning, alcohol at night). *Sigh* I guess since I have minimal vacation time left after my 6 day trip, I'll just have to start planning something for next year around this time, and make it even better than this last trip. If I feel like it, I'll share details later, but for now, let's just say it beat the hell out of any spring break trips, no, make that ANY trips, that I took back in college. A little bit of that might be due to my company on the trip: my loving and fantastic girlfriend of almost 8 months….ahh, let's tell the truth – she's what made the trip what it was…without her, I might have well been in Alaska in the middle of the winter, for all the fun I would have had.

But she will be a subject for other days, as there's way too much I could say about her today and definitely not enough time. I'm leaving for class in 45 minutes, and cheering to myself that my day is nearly over. Class is boring and a waste of time, so I generally read a book or listen to music during it (yes, the prof is so clueless that he doesn't even notice me with headphones on my ears, even when I'm answering his questions). Generally, this means that my day ends at 1:30 on Thursdays, which is truly pleasant…I leave work at the same time on Tuesdays, but I have a class from 6-9 as well, so my day really doesn't end early, and I have begun to dread my 11-hour Tuesdays with a passion.

But enough about my workdays. I don't want to completely bore myself with page after page of descriptions of work…that's something I save for my resume. I'm going to be completely unoriginal and start adding on something Tygerchild introduced me to in her entries, the "Currents." Whenever I think about it, I'll try to add in a "Currently Reading", "Currently Watching", "Currently Listening", and "Currently Thinking About" section to my entry, not only to fill space and make my entries seem longer on those short days, but to let me reminisce and share with you some awesome musical and cinematical and literary finds…or at least, comment on the good ones and berate the bad ones.

So anyway…

Currently Reading

I'm currently reading Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister which, I must say, is pretty good. I haven't read the author's previous adaptation of a faerie tale, Wicked, but if it's anything like Stepsister, I'll probably pick it up at the bookstore sometime in the near future. I really like the combination of faerie tale and the flowery, descriptive language that goes with it, and the realistic points of view of the characters and their everyday lives. It makes me feel like I'm drawn into the character's lives in a way that many narratives fail to do. Definitely going to continue to be a page turner, and I don't expect it'll be too long before I decide to just keep reading, regardless of the time of night, until I finish it.

Currently Watching

Nothing dammit. I'm at work.

Currently Listening To

The streaming radio station that allows me to keep an influx of fresh music into my computer without trying to bypass the firewall to download music via a napster-clone. I also listen to cds when I really want to hear something in particular, but right now, I want the variety of modern-rock, classic-rock, and alternative that I can get from this particular radio station. Besides, they don't play the same songs every hour like my local radio station does.

Currently Thinking About

How nice it'll be to go grocery shopping this evening and cook a nice, light, non-greasy meal for the first time in over a week. After delectable but greasy pizza last night, I'm all about a nice piece of grilled chicken and some fresh veggies. Oh, boy, I can't wait until class is done and I'm imitating Julia Child in the kitchen!
