I'm sure Yod and the monkey crew would appreciate if you went ahead and favorited the posts you like the best, so they could finish tallying the votes…say by…Thursday at midnight, PST?
Edit: Although you're more than welcome to favorite individual pictures, I think the "Group Favorite" prize should only be counted by the # of favorites on the overall post. This way you've got a normalized # of favorites per entry to compare against. So make sure that you favorite the posts you want to win Group Favorite, and not just individual pictures.

Hey peeps – I didn't know about the voting thang, and I know I am being completely dim ( I blame it on the serious lack of sleep for the past few weeks), but could someone please explain in the simplest terms what the rules are for voting?
I guess I am asking if we're voting for a set, or a certain pic, or even for a fave from each section.

I will vote tomorrow am – as I am in the UK, that shouldn't be too much of a problem I hope.

From the original monkey rights post, I assumed that there was a "Group Favorite" award that was voted for by Yod Hunt group members, and the rest of the awards (best overall entry, best single picture, first completely submitted entry) were still subject to the YH host's judgement (Yod, in this case).IF THIS IS THE CASE, it made sense to me that people clicked "Favorite this" on any/all entries that they would want to see win the "Group Favorite" award. The individual whose entry ended up with the most favorite votes by the end of the competition would win the "Group Favorite" award. In the event of a tie, we could have a run-off or they could co-win for that week's Group Favorite. Because you're focusing on the whole entry, favorite votes for individual pictures would be appreciated by the person who posted them, but wouldn't count towards the final tally.

We could do a group vote for favorite picture, too, but this would require a lot more effort on someone's part to scan through all the picture entries and find out who had the most votes, and for what picture. I'm not saying it's not feasible, just that people may decide that's too much work to keep up with, especially if the group grows with time and we have a lot more entrants (let's keep our fingers crossed – it's always more fun with more people!)

Well, yes and no – if you click on the "photos" link at the top of the group, you can see all the individual pictures, then click that picture and favorite it. I think it would be easier to count, though, if we just posted a follow-up to either the original YH topics post or the "vote here for your favorite entry" post. What do you guys think? I'll try to get some more info out of the monkeys, but I fear another strike. Did you know Emily's monkey is AWOL? What would Yod Hunt be without our precious monkeys??

Bah humbug! Maybe in future we could favourite what we think and then post it as a comment in a special post. It could be a copy and paste jobby that would probably say something like
Best Picture:Most Imaginative BlahBlah:Funniest DoDah:
…then us simple folks could just quickly paste that up as a comment and make it easier on the monkeys!

It all boils down to what are we voting for?If we're voting only for "best post" to receive the "Group Favorite" prize, it makes sense to take advantage of the "favorite" feature to tally the votes for us. Then people can "favorite" whenever they want, and all someone needs to do at the end is count the favorites post by post. Since there are only a relatively few number of posts, this won't take long. For example, if you opened each post from my list above in a new tab, it takes about 10 seconds to see who has the most favorite votes.If we're voting for all the Yod Hunt prize winners, we need a new means to have people submit their votes, like comments in a followup post. Opening up ~35 pictures in new tabs (for this contest) or 50-60 pictures (in a regular 5-topic contest) to check the favorite tallies is more time consuming and more prone to error. In that case, we could have a wrap-up post like this one and people submit their votes in the comments. The benefit to voting on everything is it would allow everyone, even the host, to participate (the host wouldn't be allowed to win first-posted, but all the other prize spots would be available to him/her).

The monkeys just wanted to offer a group favorite.. so let's go with the group's favorite entry as a whole, rather than individual pictures. The other reason to leave a comment is that there is no lock-down on favorites – I could favorite all the posts and now the person counting (me) has no idea if everyone received a unique vote or if it was one person favoriting all of them. Also, what if someone outside the group favorites the post? I don't want to compare who favorited the post to ensure they're among the 60+ people in the group.
So, as Monkey Ambassador to the Yod Hunt, I'm going to make the executive decision that we will vote for the Group Favorite by posting a comment with the Voxer's name onto the Yod Hunt topic post. This will be for your favorite overall entry, not an individual picture. If you vote for an individual picture, it will count as if you voted for that person's entry.
e.g., "Ross had my favorite entry" is the same as "Ross's picture of his kid in a chicken suit is my favorite picture". Both votes count towards Ross's entry that week as the Group Favorite.
