If you could, which film would you un-watch or which book would you un-read?

My first thought was Lady in the Water, as I'd love to forget that something like this even existed. But then I realized that by "un-watching" or "un-reading" something, you'd be setting yourself up to watch/read it again. So my only motivation for un-watching/un-reading something would be to reexperience the amazing/incredible emotions/thoughts I got out of the medium the first time around. Here are some of my top choices that I'd want to watch/read again, for the first time:
Films:
1. The Usual Suspects
2. The Spanish Prisoner
3. The Shawshank Redemption
4. The Star Wars Trilogy (eps 4, 5, and 6)
5. 12 Angry Men (the original)
6. Fight Club
7. The Indiana Jones series
8. The Matrix
9. Memento
10. Sin City
Books:
1. Anything by Robert Heinlein
2. Neuromancer
3. Slaughterhouse-Five
4. Ender's Game
5. Moby Dick
6. Snow Crash
7. The Talisman
8. Watership Down
9. The Lord of the Rings series
10. Almost anything by Spider Robinson

Oh, great answer! And I love your lists. The book list maybe a little more than the movie list. :-)I really need to re-read Heinlein. I haven't since I was about 10-12– but several of those were formative for me. I wonder if they'll stand a re-read?

In my experience, most Heinlein novels are worth a re-read. Sometimes it's hard to get past some of the things that date them (racism, sexism, etc) but there are some interesting ideas and engaging plots/characters. Whenever I find myself picking one up for a re-read, it's always a page-turner, even after that 1st+ reading.

LOL This post reminded me of a line from an episode of Freaks and Geeks: "I wish I'd never heard that album, just so I could hear it again for the first time."
As much as I'd like to unwatch/unread something for the same reasons you've given, I think those books and movies that I love have had a part in shaping my personality (i.e., the original Star Wars trilogy), so unwatching them (and, say, not watching them again until now) would really affect who and where I am today.
Hmm… Must give that more thought.

You know my first thought for the movies was Memento. In fact, I wished that I could watch it again for the first time immediately after I finished it. So creative.

clever answer! i love it. i totally agree with all your movies, except maybe Indiana Jones. While they are good films, I think I'm okay with these viewings under my belt.
