Did you ever want to run away and live in a museum?

Not me! Although I enjoyed “From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler” as much as the next kid, the MoMA always seemed like an impractical choice for a stowaway.

No, I’d run away to THE MALL.

Picture it: Spend all night playing the arcade games, stuffing yourself silly in the food court, reading in the bookstores until your eyes crossed, and finally, crashing on a Serta mattress.

What do you mean “You’d get caught”?

Why do you think I took this job as a night watchman?

What Dreams May Come?

Last night, I had a weird dream.

I was driving on a highway, when a motorcycle pulled along side me and then passed me and changed lanes in front of me, so that I was now following it.  In my dream, I didn't really focus on the driver until the motorcycle was in front of me, at which point I realized it wasn't one person on the motorcycle, but two.

Okay, that's not the weird part, here's the weird part.

The couple on the motorcycle was having sex while driving on the highway.  The guy was sitting BACKWARDS, leaning back onto the handlebars, while the girl sat astride him like he was a…well, like he was a motorcycle.  She was driving, both literally and figuratively.

Just when I started goggling at this site, the guy gave a quick wave in my direction and they sped off at excess of 100 miles an hour, leaving me wondering if I had really just seen what I thought I saw.

Later in the dream, I pulled into the gravel driveway that led to my country estate (yes, this is a dream, I don't really own a country estate) and saw some movement out of the corner of my eye.  Yep, it was the same motorcycle couple, this time up against a split-rail fence (ouchies?) with motorcycle parked on its kickstand beside them.  And an elderly lady neighbor who owned the fence and property they were on was just coming out of her front door, broom in hand, to shoo them away.

I don't know if this dream means anything, or that I want to know what it means.  But it's nice to know my brain is keeping itself entertained.

QotD: A Dream Come True

Have you ever had a dream that came true?

    Submitted by rescout.

Last night I dreamed I'd be posting on vox about a dream I had the night before about me posting on vox about a dream I had the night before about me posting on vox about a dream I had the night before about llamas.

What, you didn't think I was gonna continue typing ad infinitum, did you? (Just ad nauseum).

Sweet Dreams

So I'm taking a preventative medicine for malaria (Larium) since I'm going to go to India next week and want to make sure that if I get bit by any little skeeters that I don't get the POTENTIALLY DEADLY DISEASE (emphasis from the information on malaria given by my doctor). The doctor said that the possible side effects were minor and most people only complained of "strange dreams".

Well, I've definitely had some strange dreams. I dreamt one night that I had decided to switch careers and become the head of the Chinese mafia. In my dream, my wife was fully supportive of this profession change, even when it meant I had to start whacking people.

And then there was the dream where I was a shark, living in a large man-made freshwater pond with other sharks. I could communicate with one of the humans (a female who shared a mutual love with me, don't ask, it didn't get into details) and we were the go-betweens for a full set of trade provisions between the humans and the sharks. I think the humans wanted to fish the pond and the sharks were willing to let them for some manufactured goods, but I'm a bit fuzzy on the details. Anyway, there was this sudden disaster and all the food supply for the sharks suddenly went missing, and the sharks started attacking humans. I, with the help of my human ambassador/lover counterpart, negotiated a new peace treaty whereby the sharks promised not to attack any humans provided they fed us each 3 rabbits a day. (Again, don't ask, I don't know any more than that).

The funny thing is, I hardly ever remember my dreams. And these are so vivid that I remember them long after I wake up. Which is pretty cool. If not for the dizzyness, headaches, and achy/fever I'm also getting from the Larium, I'd be all about staying on the medication, just to get some pretty darn cool dreams out of it!
